CL4-SQL - ODBC/OLE-DB server

Open systems development
CL4 SQL is a significant enhancement to the CL4 4GL and run time engine. It provides an ODBC/OLE-DB client interface from CL4 applications running on Unix to CL4 ODBC/OLE-DB Server, allowing connectivity to any ODBC enabled database. Native interfaces are included to Oracle, Informix and other third party RDBMS running on Unix, and connectivity to Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and others is provided using an NT server as ODBC middleware.

The ODBC/OLE-DB server adds a new dimension to development in CL4. Previously CL supported development for terminal based systems and allowed access only to CL4 databases. Since Multibase entered the commercial Internet business in 1995, CL4 has evolved into a highly effective tool for the delivery of database websites. Today, through CL4 ODBC server, users can access host-based CL4 systems through a PC browser anywhere in the world. Development tools such as Delphi and Visual Studio InterDev can be used to build applications that access CL4 databases both in local client and network server environments - or developers can write in CL4 and access other remote ODBC-compliant databases. In this way previous investments in CL4 are protected through new interoperability with other technologies
